How to Plan the Ultimate 2020 Summer Party

It feels as though it’s been years since we’ve seen our beloved friends and family whilst we’ve had to stay at home. But, now that there are fewer rules surrounding social gatherings, it looks like Summer 2k20 is still happening!

Here is my complete guide to planning the best party this August, while remaining as safe as possible. Here we go….

Step One: the invite list

This Summer, the fewer guests, the better. Not only does it reduce the chances of infection, it makes the event more intimate. Inviting those who you’re closest with will lower the chances of an awkward conversation – it seems like we’ve all lost our social skills from being in quarantine for too long!

In order to narrow down your guest list, only consider those who you trust have been sensible during the Lockdown and won’t put you or others at risk. At the time of writing, you’re only able to meet inside with people from one other household or outside with six people from different households. Quality over quantity :).

STEP TWO: choose the venue

The best way to invite more people is to host your gathering outside. If you have a garden with enough space for 1m + social distancing, that would work best for privacy, but a local park can work well for a chic picnic.

Remember to check the weather for the day you plan to host your party, especially if you don’t have a covered area where people can sit.

STep three: food, glorious food

Bring. Your. Own.

Sandwiches and pork pies are classic favourites, along with some crudités dipped in houmous.

Or, if you’re feeling extra fancy and have more time on your hands, try making some sushi rolls, which are sure to make your friends envious!

Don’t forget to drink lots of water to stay hydrated as well.

step four: add the tunes

A great get-together is never complete without a suitable playlist.

You could either curate you own, or just select one that’s already been made on your streaming platform. Depending on who’s invited, choose a soundtrack that isn’t too disruptive and can be enjoyable background music.

Music is wonderful because you have something to fall back on and discuss if you run out of conversation starters…

STEP five: enjoy it

I know that your party won’t be as amazing as it would have been outside of a global pandemic, but it’s important to appreciate what we still have and are able to do.

During your celebration, be grateful and thankful for being able to spend time with loved ones while others are struggling at this time.

I hope that I’ve given you a few good tips and ideas for putting together a fun party. Let me know how yours goes!

Yours truly,
